The Catalan club, along with Real Madrid and others, were not originally part of the project

One of the great novelties unveiled by LaLiga during the 'A New Era' gala, held on Monday evening in Tres Cantos (Madrid), is the commitment from 14 Primera Division clubs to facilitate the travel of their fans to other stadiums, with the aim of watching their team play away from home.

It involves securing a package of a minimum of 300 tickets at a price of 30 euros, so that fans can travel to see their team, an initiative that has been in operation for years in other countries, such as England.

The signatory clubs are, for the moment, Almería, Cádiz, Sevilla, Betis, Valencia, Atlético de Madrid, Girona, Mallorca, Celta, Real Sociedad, Athletic, Granada, Las Palmas and Alavés.

On the other hand, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Getafe, Rayo Vallecano, Villarreal and Osasuna decided not to join the agreement.

Barça's interest

However, hours later, LaLiga sources confirmed to SPORT that Barça, having studied the project and seen how well it had been received by the majority of LaLiga clubs, have shown an interest in joining.

Therefore, Barça fans could have at least 300 tickets at an affordable price - 30 euros - to watch their team away from home when Xavi's side play one of the signatories.

LaLiga announced the project on Monday, during the 'A New Era' gala, having cooked it up in conjunction with Aficiones Unidas, a supporters' group made up of a total of 37 Football Supporters' Federations representing clubs in LaLiga EA Sports (new name for the Primera Division), LaLiga Hypermotion (Segunda) and the RFEF categories.
