The French forward will be offered either a two or three year deal to stay

Barcelona are still waiting for Ousmane Dembele. On and off the pitch. Off it, they are starting to negotiate a new deal to keep him at the club. The current deal expires at the end of the season. Moussa Sissokho, his agent, has spoken with Joan Laporta and Mateu Alemany.

Dembele’s future is one of the club’s most urgent matters to settle. Because the Frenchman can leave next summer for free, other clubs can negotiate with him from January 1.

Barça believe he is important for them going forward and want to keep him. They want to extend the deal by two years, until 2024, maintaining the pay cut that Josep Maria Bartomeu agreed.

The club thinks negotiations could take a while. They know Dembele would like to stay but he will have a lot of interest elsewhere. They hope he will appreciate the patience they have had with him over the years.

However Barca have also prepared a different deal, for three years with less of a pay cut.
