Barcelona captain Lionel Messi will undergo a range of tests on Thursday to determine the damage done to his nose during Wednesday's 1-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Blood was drawn by defender Chris Smalling's challenge in the first half -- which went unpunished -- and Messi ended the game bruising and swelling on his face. A fracture of the nose has been ruled out but the club's medics will double check on Thursday.
Ernesto Valverde, the Barça coach, revealed after the game that Messi "felt very uncomfortable after the blow to the head, we'll have to examine him tomorrow to see how he is, it was a strong blow, he has a large bruise."
The Barça squad return to training on Thursday at 17.00 CET at Sant Joan Despi to begin preparation for the game against Huesca in La Liga on Saturday.
