The Brazilian's return to fitness has taken much longer than first expected

Philippe Coutinho has undergone surgery again to try and fix the meniscus injury he suffered in Barcelona's last match of 2020, against Eibar.

Coutinho has not played since and according to Espot3 has now had to have an operation to deal with a cyst in the hope of getting him back out on the pitch.

Apparently the surgery took place in Qatar under the supervision of Belgian specialist Pieter D'Hooghe.

At first, Coutingo was ruled out for around three months but it now looks like he will miss longer and there's no date for his expected comeback.

The Brazilian had started the season in good form after being given a second chance at Camp Nou by coach Ronald Koeman but injuries have hampered him since.

He missed around a month earlier in the campaign and has not played a single game in 2021, with rumours persisting that he could join Arsenal at the end of the season.

Remember that if Coutinho plays another 10 games for Barca -- he's played 90 so far -- the club will have to pay €20 million more to Liverpool for his transfer.
