Jordi Alba has been unchallenged but times are a-changing at Camp Nou

Barcelona have decided to deeply remodel their squad and it seems they are aiming to give Jordi Alba some competition at left back. They are looking at Atalanta’s Robin Gosens, who has had a great season and is Germany international. Along with Angelino at Leipzig and Valencia’s Jose Gaya, he is on the club’s list. They are expensive but on the market and will move this summer.

Gosens is 26 and the perfect left wing back. He has a great impact in attack, scoring 10 goals with Atalanta and setting up eight. For Koeman’s system he’d work very well, but also can play left back in a four man defence. His contract runs until 2022 but Atalanta have the option to renew it unilaterally by a year. Gosens would like to leave to join a higher level team who can fight for trophies.

Juve, Inter, and Milan have made contact with him, while Man City are also interested. Atalanta want 40 million for him but would also be open to player exchanges. Gosens will play with Germany at the Euros.

Barca want to sell Junior Firpo this summer. They have Alex Balde in the B team who is highly rated. They want Alba to take a pay cut and if he does not then he may be put on the market too.

Valencia may sell Gaya too and Barca have looked at that option. Angelino signed for Leipzig for 18 million and his exit price is around 30m.
