Barça DoF Alemany on Araujo "18 seconds late" and Amrabat interest

Mateu Alemany spoke to Movistar about the Catalan club's deadline day (no) deals

The Julián Araujo soap opera remains unresolved and Mateu Alemany has explained how the last few hours of the transfer window and the mess with the Mexican player developed.

"We didn't get to Julián Araujo in time because of a computer error," the Barça director of football explained. "It was 18 seconds (late), I don't know what FIFA are going to do. We mustn't forget that he was a player for the reserve team."

Regarding the figure of Sofyan Amrabat and the rumours that circulated on Tuesday, Alemany commented on the Fiorentina midfielder that Barça "were looking at many market options. Amrabat is a one-off market situation and we'll see in the future."

Now, the priority is contract renewals: "We were doing well, the coach is calm. We have had some departures that have led to savings. We had resources in the squad but we have prioritised registering the renewed players and saving money to try to inscribe Ronald Araujo and Marcos Alonso".
