Lenglet is suspended and Umtiti has not played for weeks due to an injury

While fans saw him in the Joan Gamper Trophy game against Arsenal, they could be set to see him for the first time at Camp Nou in an official game this season when Barcelona host Sevilla this weekend.

Clement Lenglet's red card at Getafe has opened the door for a first league start of the campaign on Sunday for Todibo, with Samuel Umtiti also missing through injury. He would partner Gerard Pique in defence.

Todibo made his first appearance of the season at Getafe, coming as a late substitute when Lenglet was injured. Coach Ernesto Valverde wanted to sure things up in defence.

"I train with him every day and I can say that he has the quality to play for Barça," Pique said. "The team have a lot of confidence in him."

Still three months away from turning 20, Todibo accepted the challenge of being Barça's fourth-choice centre-back, knowing that he would be behind Pique, Lenglet and Umtiti.

He was playing regularly for Toulouse in Ligue 1 last season, at least until he was banned from the first team following his refusal to sign a new deal.

That led to a move to Barcelona and he made a couple of appearances last season in between Champions League games. After playing in the Catalan Super Cup, he also featured in league matches against Huesca and Celta Vigo.

Now he will get a big chance to show what he's about at Camp Nou when, save any surprises, he starts against Sevilla.
