Barça defender Gerard Pique: I would renew Dembele's contract
Dembele is out of contract in the summer but could yet extend at Camp Nou
Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has spoken about Ousmane Dembele's future at the club in an interview with The Wild Project.
"I would like him to renew with the club," Pique said. "He's been an important player for Xavi and we are delighted with him."
Pique, who always speaks honestly about all subjects, recognised that Dembele's a fundamental player for the team and that they're happy with his performances in the dressing room.
The French winger is out of contact in the summer and his future is uncertain. He was dropped in January after not signing an extension but Xavi has brought him back into his plans since.
Aubameyang
Dembele's in his best form since he joined Barça from the Bundesliga in 2017, with his teammate from Germany, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, now joining him at the club and helping Xavi's team in attack.
Dembele has scored two goals and provided nine assists in all competitions this season. His overall numbers at the club are 32 goals and 30 assists.
