Barça defender Araujo optimistic over Supercopa involvement

The Uruguayan pulled up in the warm-up and did not feature vs. Granada

Barcelona have not revealed how long Ronald Araujo will be sidelined for but have ruled out a serious injury.

Araujo injured his thigh before Saturday's game against Granada and was replaced by Samuel Umtiti just minutes before kick off.

Barça have said his return to training will depend on the evolution of the injury but the players feels good and he's not ruled out of the Spanish Supercopa this week.

Ronald Koeman's side play in the semifinal against Real Sociedad on Wednesday in Cordoba, with the winners playing either Real Madrid or Athletic Bilbao in Sunday's final.

The club will leave it late before deciding on Araujo but the Uruguayan could be involved against Real Sociedad.

In addition to the possible presence of Araujo, Koeman will also have Clement Lenglet available for selection again. The France defender missed Saturday's game at Granada through suspension.

With Araujo and Lenglet out, Oscar Mingueza and Umtiti played in defence and did well as Barça won 4-0.
