The Catalan club like the left-back as competition for Jordi Alba
Barcelona may have to look for another left-back to strengthen the team with Jose Luis Gaya, one of the players the Catalan club like, close to renewing his contract with Valencia.
According to Superdeporte, negotiations to extend Gaya's stay at Mestalla are on progressing well and the defender's expressed a desire to remain at the club beyond 2023.
Gaya was one of the favourites to improve Barça at left-back due to his contract situation (expires in 18 months), his experience in LaLiga at the age of 26 and the fact Mateu Alemany knows him well from his time at Valencia.
However, the Spain international could instead choose to stay where he is and reject any offer to leave.
Per the same information, renewing his Valencia deal would see him increase his pay packet but nothing like if he were to accept one of the offers from the clubs interested in him.
