This deal will help clear out a big chunk of the wage bill

The transfer machinery does not stop and Barça hope to be able to close the departure of Clement Lenglet to Tottenham very soon.

The English club were being hindered by the departure of Harry Kane, something that has finally been completed with his big-money transfer to Bayern. This should allow the London club to sign a minimum of four players and one of them is likely to be a left-sided centre-back with Lenglet being the obvious choice.

The negotiation between Barça and Tottenham was frozen due to a lack of financial agreement. Barça have always demanded 15 million euros while Tottenham only wanted to pay five million euros as they were already paying all of the player's high wages during his loan spell.

With the Frenchman there was already an agreement in principle for three years and, for that reason, Lenglet did not want to listen to proposals from Saudi Arabia.

In this impasse, Barça have been offering Lenglet to several clubs and there was interest from Juventus and Milan to sign him, but the two clubs could only opt for a loan deal and that route has been paralysed. Now, the final stretch is beginning with Tottenham and there is an urgency on both sides so they will have to give in to reach a beneficial agreement.
