The midfielder will miss the rest of the season with a thigh injury

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez says Pedri has been hit hard by his latest injury setback.

Barça confirmed on Friday that the midfielder ruptured a thigh muscle in Thursday's Europa League loss to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The club have not said how long he will be out for but he's set to miss the final eight games of the LaLiga season.

"Pedri's hurting," Xavi said. "He was in his best form of the season. It's a setback for him and the team. Let's see how long he's out."

Pedri missed a large part of the first half of the season with injury problems but has been in good form recently.

Gerard Pique is also still not fully fit. He has not been included in the squad to face Cadiz on Monday, but Xavi insists it's not an injury per se.

"Pique's not injured," the coach added. "But there's some discomfort and he has to recover from it properly."
