The Catalan wishes to "reinforce" the position, but "it depends on the market, on fair play"

FC Barcelona's first-team squad needs reinforcements, and one of the most pressing deficiencies is at right back

This was ratified by Barça coach Xavi Hernández at the press conference to unveil his campus, the Campus Xavi by Santander. Even so, the coach made it clear that it was not an issue that depended solely on the club:

"We'll see how far we can go. Right-back is a position we would like to strengthen, but it depends on the market, on [Financial] Fair Play. We would love to reinforce".

Xavi was asked to address the rumours about Jules Koundé's distress having to cover the right-back spot, even though many reports suggest that the French player had agreed to play at right-back.

"We'd like to strengthen, but we'll see where the market and ourselves go," added Xavi.

Xavi also alluded to the need to get rid of some players.

"It is an issue more of Mateu. He is quite clear about it. There have to be sales to bring in new players. From there, we have to balance the numbers. He's doing a master's course in 'Fair Play'. We'll see how far we can go".
