Barça coach Valverde reveals his favourite Lionel Messi memories
The coach singled out several moments from Messi's brilliant career
The goals he picked out were from 2007, 2009 and 2015
Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde was asked for his favourite Lionel Messi moments after the forward signed a new deal until 2021 on Saturday.
"A few things come to mind," Valverde responded, "like the goal he scored at Camp Nou in the Copa final against Athletic. I know it was wonderful for Barcelona, but for us it wasn't that extraordinary [at Athletic]!"
"I remember the goal against Getafe that was like Maradona’s… Also the one against Manchester United in the Champions League final with his head.
Valverde was then asked if he'd considered the importance of potentially being Messi's last coach at club level.
"I’ve not thought if I will be the last manager who coaches him," he said. "Coaches live on a day-to-day basis and we don't usually think too long-term."
