The Dutchman began his press conference with a nod to his fellow countryman

"I remember a phrase from [Louis] van Gaal. Buenos dias friends of the press. How good!" was how Ronald Koeman started his press conference on Friday before the trip to Atletico Madrid.

The Barça coach was referencing an appearance in front of the media by Van Gaal, with a comic tone that surprised everyone present.

Van Gaal's phrase was "Buenos dias friends of the press, I'm leaving," said as he departed the club at the end of the 1999-2000 season.

Asked if he was leaving, Koeman, with a smile, replied "I am still staying" as the speculation grows regarding his future.
