Barça coach Koeman at the Johan Cruyff to watch the B team

Ronald Koeman took in Barça B's important match against Alcoyano on Saturday

Ronald Koeman and his coaching staff didn't want to miss the start of the second phase of Segunda B as Barcelona B took on Alcoyano on Saturday.

Koeman was present at the Johan Cruyff stadium to watch Garcia Pimienta's young side against the team that knocked Real Madrid out of the Copa del Rey.

It was Barça's first game in the promotion phase of the season after the finished in the top three in the regular season. The aim now is to qualify for the promotion playoffs and to reach the second division.

Koeman has shown a lot of faith in youngsters this season and a number who have been involved under him were playing against Alcoyano.

Ilaix Moriba started in midfield and Konrad de la Fuente was on the right of the front three. Both have made their first-team debuts under the Dutchman.

Alex Collado was captaining the side. The attacking midfielder hasn't featured under Koeman yet, limited to a place on the bench in the Copa del Rey, but he has played foe the first team under previous coaches.

As well as Koeman, Barça vice president Rafa Yuste, Joan Laporta's right-hand man, was also present, as were directors Jordi Casals, Josep-Ignasi Macià, Miquel Camps and Joan Soler.
