Barça blow as Samuel Umtiti set to be ruled out for two months
The French defender injured his hamstring in Celta draw
Thomas Vermaelen replaced him with Mascherano also injured
Bad news for Barcelona: Samuel Umtiti will be out for two months after tearing his hamstring in the 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo.
Pending test on Sunday, the first impression is negative, with talk that he will be out for eight weeks and will not play again in 2017.
As a result, he will miss the Clasico against Real Madrid on Dec. 23.
The injury came in the second half when the Frenchman was racing for the ball with Iago Aspas, with the Celta forward eventually setting up his side’s equaliser after Umtiti pulled up.
Without doubt, it’s a huge blow for Ernesto Valverde, who is left with just Thomas Vermaelen and Gerard Pique with Mascherano also injured.
