Barca betting on Inter's Marcelo Brozovic

Marcelo Brozovic is, at the moment, the number one candidate to reinforce the pivot position in Barça's new project. The sporting department and Xavi have agreed on this option due to the impossibility of going for a more expensive player. The club is only working on the hypothesis of a transfer and is already in negotiations with Inter to reach an agreement.

The Brozovic option has been on the table since last January when Inter asked for the loan of Kessié. Barça then proposed an exchange with the Croatian but the Italians did not accept it. The operation came to nothing, but the Blaugrana club has been maintaining contact with the player's entourage, who are very interested in the player joining Barcelona.

Brozovic's name has always been on the table, although until now it has not been a priority. Barça were thinking of making a major sale to have options to sign a younger midfielder, but it has not been possible and the Croatian has remained as the great candidate in an operation that has been brewing for a week.

Brozovic is the target and Barça are not going to enter into any kind of exchange with Kessié. That is not the idea because they consider that the valuations do not add up. The negotiations are for a pure and simple transfer and the Blaugrana offer is around 15 million euros. And the player would sign a contract for three seasons.

It is true that Brozovic has an offer from Saudi Arabia, that also would pay transfer fee and a salary far superior to what the Blaugrana club can offer, but at Barça they are sure that the footballer will choose them when a deal is reached with the Inter. And that is what they are working on.

Barça, for now, has not tried to include any player in the operation, although there is interest from Inter for some Blaugrana players. One is Kessié, who would only leave for a high transfer fee and is ruled out, and they have also asked for the loan deals of Eric Garcia and Ferrán Torres. These last two options are not at all ruled out, but Barça, for now, do not want to mix them in the signing of Brozovic.

Negotiations are at an advanced stage pending a final decision from both Inter and the player, although there is a lot of optimism in the offices of the Blaugrana club. There is no rush - Inter are in more of a hurry to close the deal, but everything is moving at a good pace.
