The left-back was forced off in the first half of the win over Mallorca on Sunday

Barcelona have announced that Alejandro Balde suffered a partial tear of the lateral ligament of his right ankle in the 3-0 win over Mallorca on Sunday after being forced off injured in the first half.

The approximate time out of action, according to the club, will be between six and seven weeks, which means he will miss the last game against Celta Vigo and the Final Four of the Nations League with the Spanish national team.

The Barcelona full-back went off injured in the 13th minute of the game, moments after Amath Ndiaye produced a late tackle that ended up costing him a straight red card. Sergi Roberto came on in his place.

Balde had started 10 consecutive games in LaLiga Santander and the young left-back has been one of the keys to Barça's LaLiga title-winning season.

He will now try to recover in the best way possible to arrive perfectly rehabilitated for pre-season.
