Ronald Koeman's opted for Samuel Umtiti over Clement Lenglet for Barcelona's game against Athletic Club at Camp Nou on Sunday.
The inclusion of Umtiti at centre-back alongside Ronald Araujo came as a surprise, with his compatriot Lenglet expected to start the match.
