Unless PSG give him permission to join up later on, Neymar will return to Paris in order to keep relations between the two clubs civil

Neymar left Paris Saint Germain in May and demanded he is sold this summer. The Brazilian's intentions, as revealed by SPORT, was to avoid having to return to the city at all this summer. Neymar hoped negotiations between Barça and PSG would advance quickly and he'd be able to join up with his former teammates at the Camp Nou next week. However, it's a complicated deal and a definitive breakthrough might not come until the end of this month. This is why Barça have asked Neymar to return to Paris and begin preseason training should his current club ask him to.

Neymar's team has kept its silence throughout the summer. His father, who is often the mouthpiece for the Brazilian star, only spoke to reveal that he wasn't heading to Barcelona for a meeting.

Both Barça and Neymar know a transfer is a very real possibility and neither side should do anything to further sour relations between the two clubs. PSG are tired of the Brazilian's attitude and lifestyle but would close the door on an exit should things get ugly. Everyone has seen how ruthless they were with Adrien Rabiot when he announced he wouldn't extend his contract at the club. Negotiations are tough and Neymar must remain patient if he's to get his wish.

The Brazilian star remains on holiday in his home country and will no doubt be in attendance for the Copa America final. PSG have every right to call Neymar to return to preseason training with them should a deal not be struck in time. The forward has hinted at making a public declaration about his desire for a move away. Barça hopes that if Neymar goes public, in a respectful manner, it'll give PSG a little nudge to conclude talks as soon as possible. However, no statement will happen until Brazil's Copa campaign is over as he wants all the focus to be on his teammates.

Neither Barça nor PSG have made any significant comment on proceedings ever since the French club's president admitted anyone who was unhappy could leave. Thomas Tuchel, PSG's coach, tends to speak his mind and he could make his position known as soon as next week. For now, the operation continues to move forward. Slowly, but forward.
