Barça are quite optimistic over securing a deal for De Jong
The club is confident that the midfielder's preference is to sign for them rather than PSG
The 'De Jong saga' rumbles on and no side is a clear favourite to secure the midfielder's signature. At the beginning of last week reports in France suggested PSG were on the verge of completing a deal for the Ajax man. Barça didn't waste any time and the club's president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, travelled to Amsterdam in order to talk with De Jong. They are hopeful this personal touch will edge the transfer in their favour.
Barça are now quite optimistic about signing Frenkie De Jong. The player has made his decision. FC Barcelona understand it is positive for them and he now knows their interest is genuine. PSG's original offer has been trumped by the Catalan giants.
The conversations between the sporting department are Ali Durson, De Jong's agent, are quite frequent. What felt like a lost cause a few days ago is now a very real possibility. PSG will shown their own hand soon and it'll be up to the player to decide where his future lies.
