José Lara, who made his senior debut with Sevilla last season, is free to sign for any club after his contract expired

In one of the four matches that Joaquin Caparros had in charge of Sevilla last season, he gave a senior debut to academy star Jose Alonso Lara. It was against Alaves and the youngster was someone they expected a lot from in the future.

Six months later and Lara's contract has expired at Sevilla and he's been a free agent since the 1st January.

So far there hasn't been any advancement in negotiations between the player and Sevilla about extending his stay there.

The future of Lara remains in the air but what's clear is that it lies away from Sevilla. As confirmed by Diario de Sevilla, FC Barcelona are keeping tabs on the situation as the player is a teammate of Miranda and Abel Ruiz with Spain. However there are a lot of teams from all over Europe in the running for the promising youngster.

Lara started the season with a knee injury. He suffered a torn cruciate ligament injury but decided not to undergo surgery. He's still being treated by the doctors and in three to four weeks should be given the green light to return to training.
