Messi takes top spot ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane in a list composed by 'FourFourTwo'

Popular magazine ‘FourFourTwo’ has named their Top 101 players in the last quarter of a century. It contains a long list of legends, icons and one or two surprises. Matt le Tissier is number 101 and claiming top spot is none other than Lionel Messi. In total there are 25 players who play for, or have played for, FC Barcelona on the list. Real Madrid have to make do with 21 representatives.

We won't reveal the full list but we will name the FC Barcelona members in that list: Thuram (94), Touré Yaya (93), Riquelme (92), Larsson (86), Eto’o (80), Deco (71), Stoichkov (69), Dani Alves (62), Ibrahimovic (55), Puyol (41), Davids (39), Piqué (34), Villa (31), Suárez (30), Neymar (27), Busquets (20), Figo (16), Rivaldo (11), Iniesta (8), Xavi (7), Henry (6), Ronaldinho (5), Ronaldo (4) and Messi (1).

As for Real Madrid's past and present members you can find Cristiano Ronaldo (2), Zidane (3), Ronaldo (4), Kaka (14), Figo (16), Raúl (21) and Modric (19). There are also places for people who have represented both clubs such as Figo and Ronaldo. Surprisingly there are only two Spaniards on the list who haven't played for either Barça or Madrid: David Silva and Fernando Torres.
