The Argentine has been offered to both clubs, who have injury problems at the back

Barcelona and Liverpool have taken note of the name Ezequiel Garay. The veteran Argentine defender has been offered to both clubs as they attempt to deal with injuries in defence.

Liverpool have a long list of players missing at the back. Virgil van Dijk is out for a long time but they're also missing Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho and Joe Gomez.

As for Barça they're without Gerard Pique for a number of months. Samuel Umtiti and Ronald Araujo are also injured, as are Sergio Busquets and Sergi Roberto.

Coach Ronald Koeman turned to B team defender Oscar Mingueza as a solution in midweek against Dynam Kiev and he did very well.

ERIC GARCIA

Barça's top target for January is Eric Garica, but his contract with Manchester City runs until June and the English club are asking for too much money to sell him mid-season.

With that context, Garay's name has emerged. The 34-year-old has been without a club since leaving Valencia in the summer.

Garay came through at Newell's Old Boys and has played for Racing, Real Madrid, Benfica, Zenit and Valencia.
