Barça and Benfica negotiate over compulsory purchase option for Douglas
The two clubs are close to finalising a deal and are now just working on Benfica's option to buy the player
The agreement between Barça, Benfica and the player is almost complete
The deal to take Douglas to Benfica on loan for the season is almost complete. One of the details that still needs to be ironed out is whether the loan will include a compulsory purchase option at the end of the season.
If the deal goes through Barça will have found a solution to the ‘Douglas problem’ but will have to pay part of his wages this year.
Douglas had other offers, from the Turkish club Bursaspor for example, but the player would prefer to move to Portugal.
