PSV Eindhoven are closing in on the signing of Willem II left-back, Diego Palacios (19). Barça and Ajax have also spoken to Aucas who hold the player actually belongs to.
Palacios has been one of the star players in the U20 World Cup and his country, Ecuador, are into the quarter finals. He's started all of their previous matches against Japan, Italy and Uruguay.
Barcelona have kept an eye on his progress in the Eredivise and look at him as someone like Moussa Wague, who played for the B side last season but could be promoted for the 2019/20 campaign. Another Dutch league star, Ludovit Reis, has already been signed for €3.2m. Barça will have Reis play with the youth team and monitor his progress. PSV and Ajax, however, are offering Palacios a place in their first team squad.
PSV have stolen a march on their rivals and hope to secure the left back's signature within the next few days.
After a year on loan, Ajax and PSV have seen first hand what Palacios is capable of. He's set to continue his adventure in Europe in the Eredivise bar a last minute change of heart.
