Barca aiming to get 10m for Clement Lenglet

In the coming days FC Barcelona will reactivate their efforts to seal departures of the players who have been on loan this past season to help unblock the transfer operations that are pending, and the name of Clement Lenglet is marked in red.

Lenglet has revived his career in the Premier League during the last year. Although Tottenham have had a mediocre season, the French defender has been at a high level and is in fact one of the few members of the squad to have escaped the criticism. He has played 35 games (2,718 minutes, 1 goal and 2 assists).

Everything seemed to indicate that 'Spurs' would bet on him and close his signing, but for the moment the English club caused surprise with a statement in which they announced the return of Lenglet to Barcelona. However, the Blaugrana are counting on the transfer of Lenglet as he does not fit into Xavi Hernandez's plans. The intention is that his departure will be an economic injection that will help to top up the balances for the recently completed campaign and thus open the door to start new incorporations.

Barça interpret this reaction from Tottenham as a strategy to lower their demands, which were around 15 million euros. The London club's counter-offer was to put around five million on the table and the hope of Joan Laporta and the board is that the operation will be closed at the mid-point of ten million. In fact, this is the market value that the specialised website 'Transfermarkt' has placed on him.

Lenglet arrived at Barça in the 2018-19 season from Sevilla for 36 million euros, and his performance was declining until he lost prominence and the club and the player opted to seek a loan. Now, the aim is his permanent transfer out, as in the cases of Samuel Umtiti, Sergiño Dest and Collado.
