Barça 2-0 Cadiz: Late Pedri and Ferran goals seal win on Montjuic's opening night

Xavi's side picked up their first three points of the season with a hard-fought win

Late goals from Pedri and Ferran Torres earned Barcelona a 2-0 victory against Cadiz on Sunday as the Blaugrana began life in Montjuic with a win at the Olympic Stadium.

Pedri finally scored Barça's first goal of the season in the 83rd minute, with Torres, off the bench, sealing the three points in stoppage time.

It was a much-needed win in front of 39,603 fans at Barça's new temporary home after they opened the campaign with a frustrating goalless draw at Getafe last weekend.

With Ronald Araujo injured and Raphinha suspended, Gavi came into the side, with Frenkie de Jong dropping into defence, and Lamine Yamal started on the right win.

Yamal, 16, was bright and drew a good save from Jeremias Ledesma, who also kept out Jules Kounde in the first half.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen also had to be alert to keep out Roger as he raced through after grabbing the ball from Alejandro Balde.

Barça continued to push after the break, Ez Abde coming close, but Cadiz remained a threat, with Chris Ramos shooting narrowly wide.

Just as a second consecutive goalless draw was looking likely, Ilkay Gundogan fed Pedri, who finally beat Ledesma to net Barça's first goal of the new season.

That opened the game up and Ferran added the second late on.
