City have offered Cancelo and cash for the Barcelona right-back

Barça and Manchester City are in advanced talks over a deal that could take Nelson Semedo to the English club. Pep Guardiola's side want the right-back and have put various formulas on the table.

City are prepared to include Joao Cancelo in the deal, although they would also pay Barça a fee on top as Semedo has a higher market value. It's likely that an agreement is reached in the coming weeks.

Barça have given Semedo's agent, Jorge Mendes, the green light to negotiate the Portugal international's exit. The club want 45 million euros but are open to a swap deal.

Talks over a renewal ended recently and Semedo, whose contract expires in 2022, has to move this summer to prevent his price falling further.

Semedo wanted to leave last year but Barça fought to keep him, promising him regular football. City, along with Atletico Madrid, were one of the teams that wanted him them but the Catalans didn't want to listen to offers.

But things have changed and the financial crisis brought about by the coronavirus pandemic means the club have had to change certain plans.

City have led the way since Mendes started offering Semedo around. They believe he would adapt perfectly to the Premier League. It is essential for them to include Cancelo in the deal, who they paid Juventus 40 million for. He's not worked out in England.

Barça wanted cash at first but the chances of Cancelo being involved are now high. The Spanish champions are assessing City's latest offer and sources close to the talks say a deal is getting closer.
