Barça will not be punished for the Negreira Case and will go into draw among the top seeds

Barcelona will play in the next season's Champions League, as champions of Spain and seeded in the draw. This is what UEFA have told the club, since the European body have promised the Catalan club they will not be sanctioned for the 'Negreira case', SPORT have learned.

Therefore, Barça, who had already submitted their application to play in the Champions League in 2023-24, will have no problems participating in European competition. The ghosts in the form of a possible UEFA sanction to the club for the consequences of the 'Negreira case' are dispelled.

SPORT have been able to confirm that Barça are already certain that they will not be sanctioned by UEFA in the case relating to payments made to a former referee. The case broke in February and linked Barça with possible match-fixing, something the club has always categorically denied. They say they were paying for technical reports on refereeing.

Although the case has been brought to court, UEFA will not intervene to punish Barça, among other reasons because there is no ruling to prove that the Catalan club influenced refereeing in the Spanish Primera Division.
