The Barcelona midfielder ignored advice to sign off with 'Visca el Barça'
Pablo Martín Páez Gavira, better known as Gavi, has a reputation for being a player of few words but big actions. On the field, he stands out for the way he plays with his laces untied and the intensity he puts into every play.
In the second season of the documentary series 'FC Barcelona, a new era', which has just been released, you can get to know the player better thanks to scenes that show the intimacy of the Barça dressing room. One of the funniest anecdotes, and one that best explains the Andalusian's impulsive character, is during the Ballon d'Or gala.
On that day, 17 October 2022, Gavi won the Kopa Trophy as the best player under 21. In the documentary, we see how he consults with a member of the club's press team about the speech.
"When it's over, I can say, 'Força Barça,' can't I?'" he asks.
"It's better if you don't," they reply.
"And what if I say 'Visca el Barça'?"
"No, best not."
However, Gavi ends his speech by saying "thank you very much and Visca el Barça."
