Aubameyang to stay at Chelsea, Barça will keep an eye on him in summer
The striker is likely to leave the London club at the end of the season
Chelsea manager Graham Potter confirmed ahead of the Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund that Aubameyang will remain with the club until the end of the season, ruling out the possibility of a move to MLS in the coming weeks.
"Aubameyang is not in a terminal situation with us," Potter said. "He hasn't played because there are other players we want to look at in the short term, but he may have options in the future."
The striker wants to stay in Europe to leave in the summer and his dream is to return to Barca. The Blaugrana are keeping a close eye on the situation.
Potter is pleased with the player's attitude: "He hasn't been involved, but he's training well and I'm sure he'll get his chance. He's working with the rest of his teammates and we're happy with him."
The reality is that Potter has not trusted the striker despite Chelsea signing him last summer for just over €10m. The player has never felt comfortable at Chelsea and would like to leave in the coming months.
In fact, Aubameyang offered himself to Barça in the January transfer window. He called personally to play almost for free, but the regulations did not allow his registration so he had to stay at Chelsea. He would like to leave in June and have the opportunity to finish his career at Camp Nou. Part of his family still lives here and he gave an impressive performance while at Camp Nou.
The Blaugrana are aware of his situation, but he is not a priority at the moment. Nevertheless, they know that with Aubameyang they could have a new market opportunity if he is released and agrees to play for a low salary.
