The striker has been stripped of the captaincy at Arsenal this week

Barcelona are monitoring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's situation at Arsenal after the striker was stripped of the captaincy at the London club this week.

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta says the former Borussia Dortmund forward had the armband taken from him because of disciplinary issues.

Barça want to sign attackers in January. The priority is a winger -- ideally Ferran Torres -- but coach Xavi also wants a goal scorer.

There have been inquiries into the availability of Timo Werner (Chelsea) and Edinson Cavani (Manchester United), but Aubameyang has not emerged as another potential target.

His situation at Arsenal makes a deal possible and he would be open to a move to Camp Nou having previously drawn interest from Barça.

After a long process, Aubameyang renewed his contract with Arsenal until 2023 due to a lack of offers. Now, though, the relationship with the club is at an all-time low and he could seek a mid-season move.

He's scored goals throughout his career and Juventus, along with Barcelona, are also tracking him.

Barça have followed Aubameyang throughout his career and he even has family members living in the city. Now it remains to be seen if Arsenal would accept a loan or a small fee.
