Atletico's Velazquez praised Luis Suarez's attitude on and off the pitch

Uruguay defender Emiliano Velazquez says that Barcelona forward Luis Suarez is a "a very straight and respectful person" off the pitch and "a good director of play" on it. 

Velazquez , who arrived back in Spain on Thursday morning after serving his country, also praised Atletico Madrid defenders Diego Godin and Jose Maria Gimenez.

The duo are currently preferred to Velazquez at the Vicente Calderon, which has led to a loan move to Getafe for the season.

"They are the two best central defenders we have at the moment and we must make sure they work as a partnership," the 20-year-old said.

On Barça star Suarez, Velazquez was even more complimentary. 

"Luis is a phenomenon in Uruguay," he continued. "An idol. He's still just the same person, though, and he works 100 percent all the time, wherever he is.

"As he plays more games his level will increase. He's a straight and respectful person off the pitch and everythime I can play with him I am going to take advantage of it."

Velazquez has so far impressed in his six appearances for Madrid-based Getafe; Simeone certainly has some talented Uruguayan defenders in his squad.
