Griezmann has told the coach he wants to leave to join Barcelona

Antoine Griezmann, Atletico Madrid's French forward, told his coach Diego Simeone that he wants to joine Barcelona back in December, according to AS. Six months before his release clause was automatically lowered from 200 million euros to 100.

The coach thanked the player for his honesty and Griezmann promised to give him his best until the end of the season. Everything happened in a meeting back before Christmas and they agreed they would try and have the best season possible. The coach told the captains of the team what Griezmann ahd decided. The board were made aware too, and they have been looking for a replacement.

In December Guillermo Amor, director of institutional relations at Barcelona, recognised the contact had been made, with tension between both clubs growing. Barca and Griezmann have a deal agreed and the only thing left to wait for is July 1, when Griezmann's people can deposit 100m euros with La Liga to pay off his clause.
