Arsenal have joined Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race to sign Brazilian sensation Endrick, according to reports in England via 442.

The Palmeiras striker, who is still only 16 but has been linked with Barça and Madrid for months, is seen as the next superstar in his homeland.

Given his potential, it's expected he will follow a similar path to Neymar, with a move to Europe expected when he turns 18.

"We know the importance in football of being well connected, to people, clubs, sporting directors, presidents of the club," former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva told Metro. "This is how things happen."

"But there is big competition to get the best players, from the best leagues. For Palmeiras, they are going to receive a lot of calls from many clubs, the best clubs in the world to try and bring him to them. Let’s see, if at some point Arsenal did manage to bring the player, they will be getting a very good player."

Gilberto Silva believes that the role of Edu, Arsenal's sports director, could be key after he managed to close the agreements for the arrival of Brazilian players such as Gabriel Jesús.

He also managed to get Arsenal to sign Sao Paulo star Marquinhos ahead of other big European clubs. At the moment, the value of Endrick on Transfermarkt is estimated at around 15 million euros.
