Arsenal and Unai Emery want to sign Samuel Umtiti this summer
The Spanish coach is a huge admirer of the centre back and wants him, alongside David Alaba, to reinforce his backline
Samuel Umtiti is facing an unusual situation at FC Barcelona after losing his place in the side to Clement Lenglet. This has seen other sides from Europe enquire about the defender's situation and the last one was Arsenal. According to 'The Independent', Unai Emery has asked the club to do everything in their power to sign the French centre back.
Umtiti only signed a new contract last summer and that runs until 2023. Barça hold all the cards as his buyout clause stands at an impressive €500m. He then went on to star for France at the World Cup as they claimed international football's ultimate prize.
However Umtiti's desire to play in the tournament only further injured his knee and because of this has seen his participation limited this season. Lenglet's rise to the top has opened the door to Umtiti leaving this summer in order to fund other transfers.
The same newspaper suggests that Arsenal are also after Bayern Munich's David Alaba.
