Arda Turan had a clear penalty turned down against Malaga

FC Barcelona found it extremely hard to get past Malaga, above all because of the absence of Lionel Messi. Furthermore, Juande Ramos’s ultra-defensive 5-4-1 system kept the hosts at bay. However, even bearing this in mind, they were still denied a clear penalty when referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea did not point to the spot in the 55th minute.

It was a clear foul by Federico Ricca on Arda Turan, who crashed his arm into the face of the Barcelona attacker, before falling to the ground as if it was him that had been hit and not the other way round. The ref fell for it.

This action would have been the sending off of RIcca, given that he had already been booked in the 22nd minute—unbelievably for another assault with his arm on the same victim, Arda Turan.
