Antoine Griezmann has already matched Coutinho's goal tally at Barça
The Frenchman has 11 goals for Barça, the same that Coutinho got last season, and has rarely played as the main striker
Although there were a few doubts about Antoine Griezmann at the start of the season, he's vanished them with his performances on the pitch. After scoring a brace against Ibiza in the Copa del Rey last night, he's now up to 11 goals for the season - the same amount Philippe Coutinho managed last season for Barça.
Although Griezmann hasn't been used as a like-for-like replacement for Coutinho, the reality is there will be comparisons as Barça decided to loan out Coutinho once they'd secured the Frenchman's signature.
Coutinho's last season at Barça was disappointing as he never reached the level he showed at Liverpool. Griezmann, by contrast, has been seen as someone who can finally take the pressure off Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.
After five months at Barça, Griezmann has quickly hit 11 goals and this despite him playing out of his favoured role down the middle.
Those goals have come in every competition too: 7 LaLiga, 1 Champions League, 2 Copa del Rey and 1 Supercopa de España. 11 goals in 19 matches, 1,560 minutes played, is a more than respectable return. Coutinho scored 11 goals during his final season: 5 LaLiga, 3 Champions League and 3 Copa del Rey. This was after 54 matches and played 2,019 minutes.
In terms of assists, Griezmann already has 4 whilst Coutinho only managed 5 throughout the year.
