Ansu Fati ruled out of Almeria clash after knee injury in training

The forward has a bruised knee so will be missing this weekend

Bad news for Barça! Barça have reported an injury to Ansu Fati, which the attacker picked up in training this afternoon.

Ansu Fati has suffered a contusion in his left knee and is out for this weekend's match against Almeria. "The evolution of the player will determine his availability," said Barça in a statement. A setback that should not prevent him from being available for the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Thursday 2 March.

The Barça '10' played 15 minutes in last Thursday's match at Old Trafford, in which Barça bowed out of the Europa League, and this absence will prevent Xavi Hernández from using the striker in this weekend's league game, on Sunday 26th at 18:30h CET in Almería. This is a significant loss considering that Ousmane Dembélé is still injured and has not yet been able to reappear with the team.

So, apart from players who could come up from the reserve team, the Barça coach is left with three players up front: Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Ferran Torres.
