Ansu Fati now has Spanish nationality ahead of U17 World Cup next month

The teenage star could miss as many as seven games for Barça's first team

Spain's Council of Ministers on Friday approved the Spanish Football Federations request for Ansu Fati to be granted a Spanish passport.

The Barcelona teenager will now be included on the 50-man long list ahead of next month's U17 World Cup in Brazil.

Also on the list are Barça players Nico, Jaume Jardí and Alex Rico, as well as former La Masia members Pablo Moreno and Robert Navarro.

Spain have rushed through the paperwork to nationalise Ansu so that he can play in the World Cup next month.

If Spain reach the final, which takes place on Nov. 17, he could miss up to seven games for Barca's first team.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are now fit again -- and Ousmane Dembele is closing on a return -- but Ernesto Valverde plans to keep Ansu training with the first team.
