Ansu Fati and Dembele out, few options for Sergi Barjuan
The interim coach is not able to use many players for the game against Alaves
Sergi Barjuan doesn’t have a lot of breathing room as Barça’s interim coach, with several players out injured including Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembele.
Sergi Roberto joined them on the sidelines today with a quad muscle issue.
The interim coach has also not had much time to prepare for the game. It’s likely he’ll use a 4-3-3 and try and dominate the opponent. The Dynamo Kiev game next week is also crucial in the Champions League, so he won’t risk anyone with physical problems.
Frenkie de Jong, Ronald Araujo, Pedri are also out, so Busquets and Gavi will likely be joined by Nico in midfield. Up front, Memphis Depay, Sergio Aguero seem fixtures and Philippe Coutinho could start too.
Sergino Dest might retreat to right back, with Jordi Alba on the left and Pique with Eric Garcia in defence.
For Barjuan, the key is to dominate and press high. He knows the team needs to find good vibes again, ahead of the clash in Kiev.
