The Danish defender said he was not ready to play in the game which Chelsea ended up losing on penalties

Andreas Christensen was supposed to start in the FA Cup final against Liverpool but the Chelsea defender told Thomas Tuchel that he was not ready to play.

The Danish centre-back, who will come to Barcelona in the summer, was not injured and Tuchel had to put Trevor Chalobah into the side. It caught the coach and the team by surprise.

Tabloids in England mention that he had some stomach problems on match days. “On the match days his stomach always aches, I don’t know the reasons but he is always very nervous,” explained former Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri in 2019.

Tuchel confirmed that the Dane would be leaving. “We are going to lose Toni (Rudiger) and Andreas (Christensen),” said the coach.

Along with Franck Kessie, Christensen is one of the two signings Barcelona have already made for next season.
