Andrea Pirlo, legendary Italian midfielder, says that Pep Guardiola tried to sign him for Barcelona in 2010, but AC Milan did not want to let him leave.
“With Milan we played a friendly against Barcelona at Camp Nou. After the game, Guardiola called me to his office. He wanted to know if I would like to play at Barcelona. It was a nice thing to invite me to his office, but Milan did not want me to go,” he told L’Equipe.
The 37-year-old is currently playing at New York City in the USA.
He added, regarding his own game: “It all comes naturally. I can’t even explain it. In my football I always try and do things simply, to make things easier for my team-mates.”
