Andre Gomes is worrying Barcelona
The Portuguese has shown symptoms of weakness when he's needed the most
FC Barcelona are losing players in the middle of the pitch and one of them who should take a step forward is Andre Gomes. However the Portuguese has stalled and is showing worrying signs. The staff expec ta lot from him and after he replaced the injured Andres Iniesta against Atletico the Camp Nou whistled him because of a poor performance.
In this sense the Catalan Super Cup was viewed as a good stage for him to gain fonfidence. He could count on a supporting crowd in Lleida and played as pivote. However he showed little confidence and put in a bland display.
The Portuguese did not scrap for loose balls well and is not in high spirits. Valverde watched the situation and is not happy, given he considers Gomes a player with high potential, who in normal conditions would be useful in the final stage of the season.
Against Malaga there will be no Iniesta or Denis, and there's a chance Gomes will start. He needs to make his case at La Rosaleda. If he does not, then his presence in the side may diminish further.
