Alvaro Morata offers himself to Barcelona for the summer

The striker's hopes of a move to Camp Nou did not materialise in January

Alvaro Morata was the striker wanted by Xavi Hernandez in January. The Barcelona coach was convinced by his playing style, his capacity to adapt and his international experience. However, in the end, due to the conditions laid out by parent club Atletico Madrid, Morata remained on loan at Juventus.

Morata has become a problem for Atletico because coach Diego Simeone doesn't want him and Juve have announced they won't make the loan permanent in the summer. The Spain international, therefore, has offered himself to Barça for next season because he's convinced Xavi's project will succeed.

It's Morata's dream to sign a contract with Barça until 2025, similar to the one signed by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The recent Barça arrival did have the support of his club, Arsenal, who rescinded his contract to let him move to Camp Nou, something which Atletico were not prepared to do with Morata. Atletico will now potentially have a problem on their hands in the summer.

Morata did everything possible to convince Atletico, even traveling to Madrid with his agent but there was no way around it. Now he's convinced the club could allow him to leave for free in the summer and he hopes Barça will still come to an agreement to sign him. His challenge now is to do as well as he can for Juve and Spain and wait for offers in the summer, but Barça s his priority.

The Blaugrana, with Aubameyang tied down for next season, will go all out for Erling Haaland, but it's a complicated operation.
