The young midfielder started against Napoli, then give his thoughts on the current goings on at Barça

FC Barcelona were simply too good for Napoli and Carles Aleña was one of the star performers. The La Masia graduate wanted to remind everyone what he was capable of in the club's final preseason match before the LaLiga opener against Athletic Club.

"I'm very satisfied with the team for the performance we put in. I felt super comfortable out there. It's so easy to play alongside Frenkie (de Jong), with Sergi (Roberto)... with everyone. We produced a fantastic performance which will help us leading into LaLiga."

Despite his young age, Aleña isn't one to shy away from expressing his opinion. "I've already said that I want to make that step forward in my career. I want to play, I want to start matches. I've already had that first season so I could adapt. There's a lot of competition in midfield and it depends on me, but I'm confident this will be a good year for me and the team."

Aleña hoping Neymar doesn't join Madrid

Neymar Junior has been linked with a move to both Real Madrid and Barça this summer. "The truth is it would hurt if 'Ney' joined our eternal rivals and more after the fact he's played for us. I believe he could come back here. It would be an incredible signing to close the transfer window."

"He's a spectacular player, one of the best in the world in my opinion, but let's see how it all ends. It's because it changes from day to day. Either way, it's clear he's a unique player and if he came he would make Barça better."

NO ISSUE WITH MANAGEMENT OVER SHIRT NUMBER CONFUSION

"I've squashed that topic already," insisted Aleña when it was originally reported he was upset at Frenkie de Jong being handed the '21' shirt. "I said what happened. There wasn't any problem with the board. It was resolved. Maybe I didn't do the right thing by mentioning it publicly, but later we spoke and it's all sorted."

"Frenkie and I spoke about it later and it was resolved really quickly. Here the number is the least important. What's important is we all went together."
