Aleix Vidal will leave Barça in January if a fair offer arrives

The player and the club are working on the best solution for everyone involved

Aleix Vidal’s days at Barcelona are numbered. Barça and the player have taken a few weeks to reflect on the situation, but both parties agree that the best thing is to look for a January move due to a lack of opportunities in the first team. It’s a meditated decision and not the fruit of any particular meeting, rather a series of continuous conversations. The player’s situation took a turn for the worse when he was left out of the squad for the Deportivo La Coruna game despite Sergi Roberto’s injury and it seems clear that Luis Enrique does not want to use him.

The plan now is to look for an exit which works for all parties, although it’s not easy. Barça paid 18 million euros for Vidal plus bonuses and he’s not close to paying back that fee. The Blaugrana are looking for at least 13 million euros, although that’s unlikely given his ostracism, although a loan until the end of the season has not been ruled out yet. In any case, for the moment, there’s nothing concrete despite the fact some Italian clubs have shown interest in a loan. In this scenario, Barça would save on his wages until the end of June.

The player picked up an injury last week due to his lack of action. It ruled him out of the Catalan Super Cup game against Espanyol, a game he could have played in and demonstrated his desire to force himself back into Luis Enrique’s plans. He’s not going through a good time, but he will work hard until the end of the year and will make himself available if Luis Enrique deems him necessary. Despite the rumours, the player has a good relationship with his coach and is grateful because he took the decision to sign him from Sevilla. And his relationship with his teammates is excellent. Many players have supported him throughout this difficult period. He’s never lost hope of a new opportunity arising and still hopes to get another chance.

It’s unlikely he will get a chance, though. At Sevilla he was transformed to a right-back, but he played with much more protection. At Barça he’s had problems because he’s not a specialist. As said, Aleix will give his all until the moment he leaves the club.
