Aleix Vidal isn't the first player to be ostracised under Luis Enrique

Montoya, Adriano, Douglas, Bartra and Sergi Roberto all experienced similar situations

Since Luis Enrique took charge of Barcelona in 2014, various players, like Aleix Vidal now, have been marginalised or suffered ostracism under the Asturian. It was the case with Martin Montoya, Douglas Pereira, Adriano Correia, Marc Bartra and Sergi Roberto.

In 2014-15, the first player to go through this uncomfortable situation was Montoya, who went four games without even making the squad. The right-back never found a place with Luis Enrique, with Dani Alves keeping him out of the team.

That season season was a tough one for Sergi Roberto, who spent five games out of the squad. Another player who wasn't in his manager's plans, in addition to Jordi Masip, was the Brazilian Douglas, who was either injured or left out for technical reasons.

A curious case was goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, who in the Copa del Rey was always left out apart from in the final. Luis Enrique shared the goalkeeping duties between Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Masip.

In Lucho's second season, 2015-16, Luis Enrique also had to make big decisions. He made it clear from day one that he didn't count on Douglas, who despite being fit at one point, spent 11 games out of the matchday squad.

Another player who struggled in this season was Sandro Ramirez. The Canary Island forward, who had the MSN ahead of him, couldn't find his place and was left without minutes. His last game came in Week 15, with injuries and technical decisions meaning he didn't feature again before his summer move to Malaga.

The Brazilian Adriano also struggled and spent three weeks doing nothing at one point despite being fit. The presence and consistency of Jordi Alba was his main problem.

Only Sergi Roberto has been able to save himself. He has won his manager's confidence, although it's not clear what his best position is still. However, he's currently the first choice right-back. The rest of the players mentioned have had to look for football away from Camp Nou.

Montoya is now at Valencia, while this summer saw Adriano (Besiktas), Douglas (Sporting Gijon), Marc Bartra (Borussia Dortmund) and Sandro (Malaga) all leave the club. The doors may be open for Vidal in January.
